Q1 2024 Snapshot: Top Film & Television iOS Apps in Europe

In Q1 of 2024, the European market saw varied trends across the top five Film & Television iOS applications. Data sourced from Sensor Tower provides a glimpse into how these apps performed in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.

Disney+ experienced fluctuating revenue throughout the quarter, with a peak of nearly $4.9M in mid-January and dipping to around $4M by early March. Downloads for Disney+ followed a slight downward trend, starting at approximately 252K in the first week of January and closing the quarter with about 206K downloads. Weekly active users began at 8.7M and saw a dip before rising to approximately 8.2M by the end of March.

Amazon Prime Video showed a steady revenue stream, starting at $919K and peaking at over $1M towards the end of February. Downloads for the app declined from 344K to 225K over the quarter, while weekly active users saw a drop from 4.6M to 4M, then slightly rebounded to 4M in the final week.

Netflix maintained a stable revenue, with amounts hovering around the $900K mark, occasionally reaching over $1M. Downloads showed a gradual decrease from 396K to 271K, and weekly active users started strong at 19.8M but ended the quarter at 17.7M, indicating a downward trend.

Crunchyroll saw its revenue move between $636K and $737K, with a notable rise towards the end of February. Its downloads decreased modestly from 54K to 37K, while the platform’s active users decreased from 1M to 941K by the end of the quarter.

Lastly, discovery+ revenue saw a slight increase from $572K to $594K. Downloads experienced peaks and troughs, with a high of 49K in late January and a low of 20K by mid-March. Weekly active users had a high of 213K towards the end of January but saw a general stabilization around 177K by the quarter's end.
